Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Some 23 years ago for some unknown reason I decided to run a marathon. Luckily for me I was running it with my brother because around the 20 mile mark I came face-to-face with the ‘wall’. All I wanted to do was sit down and eat a Mars Bar but he persuaded me that it might not be the best thing to do! I finished but boy did it hurt and i decided that I would never do a marathon again.
That is until now! Why?
I’m hoping it’s not down to a mid-life crisis (far too young!) and I’m not that vain that I have to prove anything to anyone, except maybe myself. That said, when the opportunity came to be part of a team to run in the New York Marathon there was no looking back. One of the iconic races that I can say that I’ve done.
However, I must admit to being a little concerned if I meet the ’wall’ again, especially around the 20 mile mark as that's in the suburbs of the Bronx and Harlem. I may get a Mars Bar but it wont be fun-size!!
Now getting onto the serious bit and the reason why I brought you here. I don’t do this very often as I feel awkward asking people to part with their hard earned money, however, as most of you know I’ve served 17 years in the Army and so 'Help for Heroes' is very close to home and a worthy charity doing great work. We’ve all seen the pictures of the boys and girls injured in the line of duty and the courage they show when faced with such adversity. 'Help for Heroes' goes along way to support projects that help rehabilitate and give hope to those most in need.
