Story
Over 27 days in April, I am cycling from Hanoi to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), the two Vietnamese cities I've called home and nearly the full-length of Vietnam. That's 2002 kilometers (1244 miles), about the same as traveling by road from San Diego to Seattle.
I've been living in Vietnam for nearly three years now, and before I leave, I wanted to do something big and say "thank you" to this fantastic country that I've called home. What better way to do that than cycling over two-thousand kilometers for charity along bumpy roads and with highs approaching 100°F in the sweatiest humidity Vietnam has to offer.
I'm not at it alone. I am joined by ten other riders from H2H, a group of people whose lives have been enriched by living in Vietnam and want to give something back by helping those most in need. H2H was founded in 2009 and has cycled from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City every year since.
Our goal is to raise at least $1000 each for Saigon Children's Charity. They help disadvantaged children in Vietnam receive a quality education by giving scholarships, building schools, running vocational programs in Saigon and working with other, smaller organizations that focus on children with disabilities. The money will also go to charities that help kids who are the victims of human trafficking or have bad family situations at home.
The ride is entirely self-funded, so all of the money you donate will go directly to this cause! Please visit http://www.h2hcharityride.org/ for more information about the ride and check out h2hrfvc.blogspot.com to read our team blog. Donations of any amount are welcome, so thank you in advance for your contributions!
