When Brian Stedman suggested riding from London to Paris in 24 hours to raise money for PLANETS it all seemed such a good idea and such a long way off. Now the day is fast approaching does it still seem so sensible? I'm certainly a lot fitter than I was but 300km in 24 hours. Really??

PLANETS raises money in Southampton to support patients with Pancreatic, Liver and Neuroendocrine tumours. My personal involvement has been through their support of Hepatic Chemoperfusion in Southampton. This groundbreaking technique for delivering chemotherapy directly into the liver has offered a new treatment opportunity for my patients with ocular melanoma for whom there were previously no really effective treatment options.

The next goal for PLANETS is to support the delivery of intra-operative radiotherapy in Southampton. This innovative technique will help our surgeons to push the boundaries for achieving complete resection of challenging tumours and help us all in our goal of curing more patients with cancer.
