We support members of the Jewish community to help them make the most out of living.
Story
In the Summer of 2010 I am going to be climbing Kilimanjaro for two
charities. This page sends all donations to The Holocaust Survivors
Centre, part of Jewish Care while the other
page under my name will send all donations to the Camps International Trust.
Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and fourth highest of
the Seven Summits. It is among tallest freestanding mountains
in the world, with Uhuru Peak rising to an altitude of 15,100 feet
(4,600 m) from base to summit.
The Holocaust Survivors' Centre and Shalvata offer a wide range of therapeutic services tailor made to the needs of the Jewish survivors and refugees of the Nazi Holocaust. The Holocaust Survivors' Centre offers a 6 day a week social programme including a daily cafe all aimed at offering relief from past traumatic memories. Shalvata (Peace of Mind) offers survivors and refugees opportunities to speak of their suffering as well as current issues relating to aging to a team specially trained to understand and respond. They also record their testimonies to be kept for posterity.
At this time in their lives, the Survivors need you to support these services which are so essential. Thankyou.
Jewish Care is the largest health & social care charity for the UK Jewish community, helping 10,000 people weekly. We help older people, people with disabilities, mental health needs, visual impairment, Holocaust survivors & refugees. We also help families & carers & run youth programmes.
