We campaign, support and fund research to stop people dying of bowel cancer
Story
*** Finished Marathon today in 4 hours 29 mins, the last few mile were tough but when I thought of Rosi it kept me going. Thanks so much to everyone who sponsored Rosi and me. Raising the money has made it all worthwhile. Thank you ***
When my friend and colleague, Rosi Kirker was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer in July 2009 she very quickly decided to be a survivor – not a victim. After extensive surgery and an initial 6 months of chemotherapy she is now going through a further line of treatment for another 6 months. When people face the trauma of cancer, very often they look to see how they can either help others in similar situations, or try to raise awareness. The Department of Health in Northern Ireland has just launched a long overdue Bowel Cancer Screening Program, but it only targets a certain sector of the population. Throughout her illness, Rosi has been tirelessly fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK so that people can become more educated and aware of this disease, because if detected early, it is highly treatable. To date, family, friends and colleagues have helped raised over £10,000 and this money will stay in Northern Ireland to be used to raise awareness and help survivors and carers of people with this disease. You can help by sponsoring me as I have undertaken to complete the Belfast Marathon on 3rd May, yes all 26.2 miles! All monies will go to BCUK and will be directed towards specific projects to raise awareness in Northern Ireland. Please dig deep.
