Story
Keep the doctors floating! Dear people, being able to work as a doctor at the floating doctors in Panama for the past 3 months was such a great privilege. This organization is committed to the availability of healthcare where this is not self-evident, for many reasons. The long boat trips that we make to the communities, the medication that we prescribe for free, the financial support that is sometimes necessary, this costs a lot of money!
Due to a lack of funds at this moment and an increase in the number of medical clinics and an addition of veterinary- and dentalcare, the floating doctors will not be able to run clinics in the last 3 months of this year. And our patients will not have health care available... After 3 months of living and working with these fantastic people, this is simply not an option! Keep these doctors floating, because bringing healthcare to these people must continue 😷❤️🌎
“The Floating Doctors mission is to reduce the present and future burden of disease in the developing world, and to promote improvements in health care delivery worldwide. Floating Doctors delivers medical care to the indigenous populations living in the Bocas Del Toro Archipelago. We combine comprehensive healthcare services, scientific research and internationally accredited education opportunities to save lives, introduce long term healthcare solutions and break the cycle of poverty and disease for these communities. We regularly visit communities over 10,000 square miles of jungle and mangrove forests. Your support ensures we can provide ongoing medical, dental, and veterinary clinics, health education, and community development initiatives to people living in resource-poor regions.”
