We partner with communities across Africa to improve access to vital health services

Story

The Strait of Gibraltar is a tough swim; less than 300 people have made the crossing.  The swim is around 12 miles and will take place (for about 5 hours) in the last week of September 2009. The actual day will depend on the weather and in particular on the wind.  Ana (my fiancée and a Gibraltarian) will be on a boat feeding me with a stick.

I'll be wearing a Speedo and Vaseline and avoiding white sharks, men-of-war and maritime traffic.  With any luck I’ll make Morocco and claim to have swum from Europe to Africa.

If you find any of this impressive or entertaining please give generously to AMREF (http://www.amref.org):

AMREF’s has been working in Africa for five decades with a mission to ensure that every African can enjoy the right to good health.  They bring good quality and affordable health care to those who need it most - improving access to health treatment and preventing poor health through community education. Working closely with African communities and governments, AMREF ensures that its health projects are relevant and sustainable.

Thanks!

Mike
