On 19th Sept I am
hosting the first ever Chelsea Pantomime Grand National in aid of the
Uganda Conservation Foundation, a charity I started 10 years ago and continue
to support as a trustee.
Money being raised
will go to our programme to help recover the socio-economic development of a
huge region in Northern Uganda, that over the past decades has been ravaged
by the LRA rebels. Remember? The Lord’s Resistance Army that uses child
soldiers etc)The crimes against humanity in this area have been extreme. We will
be supporting many aspects, from education and health, to natural resource
management and agriculture in one of the world’s most desperate regions.
I have been challenged to do three minutes
of 'dressage' – equestrian ‘ballet’ - , the twist being that I am in
a pantomime horse costume and what is more, it is to bagpipes......
I will of course put the humiliation onto YouTube but - I will
only do it if I raise over £500. Please be sure to gift aid your kind donations.
Last time I ran a
marathon in a gorilla outfit and ten years ago I ate the hottest curry in the
world (after signing a disclaimer.....).
Do come to the event -
it is a family day with lots to do. The Tickets can be got and details
found at
www.ugandacf.org
See you there for a
glass of Pimms and Tiptree strawberries and cream!
and
finally................
I have just invited
all of the Chelsea pensioners to the event - if anyone would like to sponsor
their free entry, a burger, strawbugs and glass of pimms, (for £500)
please email me at
