Story

Hi Everyone,

On the 16th of August, Hugo Bussell, James Hunt and I successfully completed the Three peaks Challenge!

The aim of the challenge was to hike up and down the three highest peaks in the UK ( Snowdon, in Wales, Scafell Pike, in the Lake District and Ben Nevis, in Scotland) in 24 hours! Driving time was within the 24hours.

It was very challenging. We had horrible conditions, and the lack of sleep and personal hygiene made the 24 hrs very difficult. The weather provided every possible hindrance, with gale force winds and driving rain on Snowdon, heavy cloud cover on Scafell and heavy rain and cold temperatures on Ben Nevis. We also started Ben Nevis at 3.30am in the dark! My Dad was our guide and with the help of his GPS device we completed the challenge with a half hour to spare. My  Mum did all the driving, made sure that we had enough to eat and drink and that we stayed organised.

I am very relieved that it is over but it was definitely worth the effort to raise money for this worthy cause.

Thankyou to everyone who has already donated and for those who would still like to donate the charity that we are raising funds for is AfricaLink. AfricaLink is a charity that focuses the funds raised towards an impoverished area of Mozambique so that we can build some of the bare essentials to improve the quality of life of the locals. It is a cause which has been supported by Oundle school for many years .

What we are able to do is very much determined by the amount of money that we raise. The three of us will be out in Mozambique next summer to put our fundraising efforts into practice , so any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Michael

About the charity

Oundle Africalink will be building a new school house for a local primary school in Pomene, southern Mozambique. Their present building is made of illegally harvested Mangrove poles and has no seats or basic teaching facilities.
