Cancer touches many of us, One in three of us will get cancer at some time during our lives.  Effective treatment is a major priority for the NHS but it is expensive.   There is very little left over for the non-essential items that often make all the difference to patients during their treatment.

This is where the Rosemere Cancer Foundation comes in.   As a registered charity, Rosemere aims to raise funds for research, patient welfare projects, additional equipment and training  -  not just in the Cancer Centre in Preston, but in the local Cancer Units throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria as well, providing the very best care possible for patients wherever they are treated.

I'll be doing my bit to try and raise a little bit extra. I'll be attempting to cycle from Manchester to Blackpool (a distance of nearly 60 miles). The photo you see above is me after one of our training sessions, those of you who know me well, will know that me and exercise are not happy bedfellows, so I hope that the same fate doesn't await me at the end of this ride!

I've already raised over £100 for Christie's, the partner charity of the event, I'd like to at least match that total for Rosemere if I can.

UPDATE: Thanks to all that have sponsored me ( so far ) I'm delighted to say that I completed the ride in a time of 5hours and 25 minutes, and the actual distance was just over 62 miles. I don't think this was bad considering I was riding a 13 year old steel framed mountain bike, with 2inch wide tyres !! I hope you don't think I'm too cheeky, but thanks to the generosity of those of you who've already sponsored me, I've upped my target, so you can continue to dig deep.
