Story
I DID IT!! I RAN 13.1 miles!! Thank you for taking the time to visit my justgiving page. Thank you so much to all of you who have already sponsored me - your support and encouragement really helped keep me going. I am not going to lie - I am very stiff and a bit sore, but totally chuffed that I completed the race set before me and know that the money already raised will help to change the lives of young women. I still have a little way to go to reach my target so if you would like to sponsor me, every donation will be gratefully received (further info below). Thanks all - love ya!
I will be running in the Great North Run, all 13.1 miles of it, on the 19th September 2010. Why? Well because I have wanted to run a marathon my whole life and used to run competitively in my younger days (not that many years ago you cheeky monkeys!!), but after a badly dislocated knee some years back and then the usual busyness of life, I have never quite got round to it. So, what has changed? Well I turned 30 on Christmas Eve last year and resolved that during this big year I would take steps towards my life long goal of finishing a marathon. But the Great North Run is not a marathon I hear you cry! Well after nearly two years of being off the road with various injuries I can assure you it seems like a marathon to me. And as I use this world famous half marathon as my first big step towards my ultimate goal, I thought I would also make a difference to the lives of others. Because those of you that know me well will know that 'others' are what really motivates me!
So, I am raising cash for an awesome charity called Mercy Ministries. Mercy is an international charity that runs residential homes for girls struggling with life controlling issues such as self harm, eating disorders and the effects of abuse. There is one home here in the UK, up North in sunny Bradford, which is about to undertake significant building work to take it from 10 beds to a 22 bed home. This is quite a leap of faith in this economic climate, but that's ok because I have faith in abundance and trust that my nearest and dearest will be super generous and play their part in helping to see hope restored and lives transformed!!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to Mercy and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So my lovelies please consider what you can do and know that I am grateful for every donation. It is not the size of the donation, but your support for me that touches me. Have a glorious day!! x
