Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have decided to run 100km over 4 weeks starting 4th Oct 2021 to help this amazing charity.

My son Jacob was born 4 weeks early and very suddenly with a rare health condition, called Congenital Hyperinsulinism. 1 baby in about 50,000 will be born with this health condtion. Hyperinsulinism can be extremely dangerous if not monitored or diagnosed early enough, can lead to issues with development and in extreme conditions, death.

As you can imagine at the time of his birth myself and my partner Charlotte were extremely worried and overwhelmed by this news. As new parents ourselves we never thought we would have to deal with such a rare condition and didn't know where to start looking for advice. Thankfully Alder Hey gave us information about The Children's Hyperinsulinism Charity.

They have provided my family with support, a sympathetic ear and more importantly hope. Hope that my son can live a normal (ish) life and do everything he sets his mind to.

So please give what you can, no matter how little or large your donation may be, every little helps.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

About the charity

The Children’s Hyperinsulinism Charity raises funds to support families living in the UK, Northern Ireland and Ireland who have children with Congenital Hyperinsulinism (CHI), a rare disorder affecting approx 1:50,000 in the UK. We will hold conferences to support each other and meet other families living with CHI which is so important. These conferences will also include education sessions presented by experienced families and medical professionals. We will also support research into different aspects of CHI including genetics, blood glucose, new medication and repurposed medication. Thank you for supporting The Children's Hyperinsulinism Charity (CHC).
