Story
Mile 2 marathon is a series of 5 running events, for one great cause- to raise money for the James Cook neonatal unit!
Twins Ted and Oscar were born at 28 weeks gestation weighing 2lb 12oz and 2lb 7oz , they received 91/2 weeks intensive care within the neonatal unit at James cook university hospital were nurses, consultants and other professionals worked tirelessly to save the lives of and then care for Ted and Oscar until the my were well enough to come home.
The support given to myself and husband was immense, emotionally and practically to help us care for our premature babies, teaching us how to tube feed, and supporting me to eventually breastfeed both boys at 32 weeks.
The boys were cared for in incubators until heathy enough to regulate their own temperatures, then they were moved to open cots, at this point is were the raising money comes into play as I would have loved for the boys to be reunited and to co sleep but the single cots were just not practical to provide this. The boys did get time together and when they did Oscars heart rate and breathing rate would stabilise, if they had twin cots available to all or most sets of multiple births I believe they would progress much quicker. Also they enjoyed being with each other the cuddled into each other and were peaceful.
So please help us raise the funds needed to provide others with the opportunity for their twins not to be Separated any longer than they need to be.
Thank you .
