In January of this year our beautiful 5 year old little boy Miller was diagnosed with Leukemia.

With this awful news came the end of our 'normal' happy life as well as poignantly reminding me that as a child aged 6 years I lost my friend Jamie Orton to this dreadful disease.

 

Unbelievably, Leukemia has affected our family not once but twice as my brother-in-law is also fighting this disease. What gets our family through this difficult time is Miller's wonderful braveness, innocence and zest for life together with the immense love and support of others.  We are amazed and humbled by the work and dedication of all the Royal Marsden staff who are striving to cure Miller - the nurses, doctors, anesthetists, consultants, surgeons, phlebotomists, psychologists, and researchers.

 

Believe it or not all these people play a vital part in Miller's 3 year treatment plan. Treatment has come along way since the 1960's when only 1 child out of 10 survived - now it is 9 out of 10.  This has only come about quite simply because of research.  Without vital research there will never be the chance for developing a vaccine to eradicate this dreadful heart-breaking illness, Cancer.

 

Let's help to make it 10 out of 10. Cancer effects everyone whatever age, creed, colour and background.  It tears apart people’s lives and breaks loved-ones hearts. Let's not let it win.  Life is fragile and people are very precious.

We have decided to organise a ladies evening to raise money for the Research Department at The Royal Marsden Hospital, Charity Number: 1095197.
