Story

Children of Fire is one of the only charities of its kind in South Africa - helping burn survivors recieve the medical treatment they need , provide education for them in a residnetial SEN school between surgeries, and support thier emotional recovery from the trauma of thier injuries.

I have been given the wonderful opportuntiy to work alongside Children of Fire as an SEN primary school teacher at their school in Johannesburg called Bek Beka. This school was formed as a subsidiary charity and takes in young children with a range of special educational needs. Inclusion is a wonderful ideologoy in principle, but unfortuantley there is still along way to go before pupils with complex needs are accepted into mainstream schools in South Africa. Many children that come to Children of Fire may never be able to return to mainstream education.

Help me , help them !  Both Children of Fire and Beka Beka run only on the generous donations of others.  It costs  R18 000 for one year at Beka Beka, this being £956.30 (depending on exhange rate ). Yes , Bristol !!! Let's open the doors to one young human being who may  not otherwise have the chance to recieve a good basic education , and  a place where they are listened to and understood. A place to be accepted for who they are .
