Thank you to Michael Ruthven for such a generous donation and pushing us over the target. Love Emma and the team.

On 11th August Finn, Alfie, Emma and Bella from Cheltenham College will be setting off to travel across Montenegro by canoeing, cycling, hiking and paragliding.  The challenge is to complete the journey in seven days.

The first challenge is to kayak across the Bay of Kotor and then hike the ancient zig zag trade routes up to 1,000 metres, where they will sleep out in the open.  The following three long days will be hiking using their orienteering skills, as there are no mountain paths and only a rudimentary map to guide them.  The final leg is a steep, hilly cycle ride to the point where they will paraglide to the final destination in Budva.

They are raising money for The Teenage Cancer Trust South West Appeal.  There is never a good time to get cancer but to be diagnosed in teenage years is particularly cruel and isolating.  TCT are raising money to fund services specifically designed for young people between the ages of 13-24.  The facilities will give teenagers the very best chance of a positive outcome from cancer and provide the highest possible medical care in an environment where teenagers can meet others in a similar situation.

Any donation you can make to help us reach our target would be great.  No one has much spare cash at the moment so however small the donation the Teenage Cancer Trust will be very grateful.

The TCT does not receive government funding so relies on fundraising.  The unit will only be possible with the support of individuals and companies.  It is crucial that we raise this money to give young people across the region the fight and attitude they need to beat cancer.

Thank you so much to Robin Brown for sharing his knowledge of Montenegro.
