We are embarking on a trip of a lifetime – taking part in the first Mototaxi Junket in organised by “The Adventurists”.  On we are handed keys to a Mototaxi and set out from in with our sights set on travelling 4000km in 14 days to our destination of Ascuncion in .

The Mototaxi itself will most definitely be the Achilles heel of our adventure. Built for travelling around city streets, we will be taking it across the and through rainforests, salt plains and desert.  It has been described as a  motorbike/sofa and has an engine size of roughly 125 cc with the horse power of 7 dogs. When it comes to speed it falls short again, top uphill speed of 1kmph and a dizzying 70kmph downhill.

But where is our sense of adventure if we start worrying about these minor flaws?!

We will be raising money for 2 amazing charities and that will make it all worthwhile. The first £1000 raised will be donated to Operation Smile which is an international charity that support medical volunteers who repair childhood facial deformities. It takes 45 minutes and £150 to repair a cleft lip and approx 9000 children are treated every year.

The rest of our raised funds will be donated to a charity that Dave has brought to our attention. It is called Child’s i Foundation and they are aiming to provide a home for abandoned babies in . Not only are they addressing practical issues, they are involved in a pilot programme supporting pregnant woman and are planning to set up a social work department so that abandoned children are reunited with family or are adopted into a loving home.
