Inadequate water, wells, sanitation and hygiene not only cause sickness and death, as shortages in water can lead to harvest failures and even famine. All these factors combine together to contribute to the continuing cycle of poverty in developing countries. |
Islamic Relief, a global charity will be hosting this challenge. All fundraising proceeds will go towards safe and clean drinking water projects in Northern Kenya.
Dirty water kills 5 million people a year
The average distance women in Africa walk to collect water is 6 km
Islamic Relief works with people of all ages to show how they and others can make a real difference. It is not enough to say that we cannot make a difference; we must get up and make it happen!
- We work with many other charities, including Christian Aid and Cafod, to pressure politicians to do more to help the poorest people in the world.
- Islamic Relief is a trusted agency, and as such, we are able to sit at the table and tell politicians what we, our donors, and most importantly, our beneficiaries feel needs to be done to bring real and sustainable change to the world.
Did you know that in sub-Saharan Africa, 42% of people don't have access to clean and safe drinking water?
