Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
First things first a little history lesson. Way back in 2009 after watching comedian Eddie Izzard complete an incredible 43 marathons in 51 days i was inspired. Surely if he could do that then myself and fellow Postman and good friend Tony Cliss could walk 44 miles in a couple of days along the North Norfolk Coast for the then Royal Mail adopted charity Barnardo's. We did in 2010 and £2000 pounds later we found ourselves local heroes amongst our customers and the general public who didn't stop mentioning it after our press coverage in the local paper. Two more walks followed in the next two years along Hadrian's Wall and along Dorset's Jurassic coast but this time for the amazing Great Ormond Street Hospital where we managed to raise well over £3,000 pounds. We met some fantastic people along the way but the ultimate highlight was being invited to the hospital to visit the Sky ward and see the improvements being made with all the money raised. As a father of two children myself i found it hard to concentrate with a lump in my throat and the reality is life or death for many of the children without the specialist treatment or equipment. Having a child with any kind of health issues can be an emotional, stressful and lonely time for families and hopefully we made a difference to someone's life. That was the point when i vowed to myself that i would always do something to raise money for the hospital. Fast forward to 2015 and i'm on my own this time, but just as keen as ever and with the longest walk yet .This is the part where you come in because your generosity can help me to help someone else. Sounds like a plan what do you say? I'll leave it in your capable hands and maybe you can join me on my next one? It might just be one of the most rewarding and satisfying things you ever do because everyday a poorly child needs help at Great Ormond Street.
Nick.
