Story

FOUR editors and an Italian’s  24 hour Three Peaks challenge

A fearless team from NWN Media are getting set for their self-organised 24 hour Three Peaks Challenge in aid of Hope House Children’s Hospice.

The idea is to reach the summits of Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales all in one day. The reality may be somewhat different.

Setting off from the base of Ben Nevis at around 5pm on Friday, July 10, 2009 the group hope to be all finished in time for tea and medals at the bottom of Snowdon at 5pm, Saturday July 11.

Taking part in the challenge will be:

Martin Wright, associate editor for NWN Media.
32-years-old, dad of baby Harry.
Commonly referred to by other team members as ‘Running Boy’ due to his fitness levels.

Rick Matthews, group picture editor for NWN Media.
Just turned 50-years-old.
Impressively dedicated to the challenge after going on a fitness blast at the start of 2009.

Christian Dunn, digital editor for NWN Media.
28-years-old - often wishes he hadn’t come up with the idea of doing the challenge.

Carlotta Ercolani, science teacher at Castell Alun High School in Hope.
Christian’s Italian fiancée bravely stepped up to join the walking team after initially planning on being the expedition’s main driver.

Jonathan Barnett, assistant editor of the Evening Leader.
34-years-old - an injury forced Jon’s retirement from the walkers and into the 11-hour driving seat needed to complete the 500 mile trek.

Any donation for Hope House Children's Hospice would be really appreciated - it is an absolutely fantastic cause.
