Story

Completed in 35 minutes!!

Rather stiff still but definately pleased and would like to thank all for the support and sponsors!

It's been amazing.  My my, the emotions that one experiences when doing something like this...just amazing!

--------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I normally sit at my PC (when I am not networking) and then I network online, for myself and others.  Else, I might be sitting at someone else's PC, teaching them how to use it.

So doing some exercise is important to me.  I have always wanted to do something like this except I have been told that for medical reasons, I must stick to sprinting and not long distance running.  However, this is only 5K and walking is accepted, so I thought..... here is my chance!

Encouraged by my fellow WomenMeanBiz colleagues, and the number of people in my family who have suffered from this terrible disease, I have managed to get trained up but got so carried away with running twice a day and timing it to see my .... poor performance become just a little better, I did not get around to creating this page till....just days before the run.

Thank you to all of those that have helped make up for this by sponsoring me using my form.  I just hope I can raise more via this page now - it might be the only chance I get to raise money by moving my legs at some fast pace, as I expect my spinal specialist won't be impressed with dealing with the after effects.

More about the charity ....
It is a sad fact that as many as 35,000 men are diagnosed every year in this country with prostate cancer and over 10,000 die from the disease, equal to the number of deaths in women from breast cancer. But prostate cancer research receives only 25% of the funding spent on research into breast cancer in women. There is a diagnostic test available to screen for prostate cancer but currently only 8% of men request this potentially life-saving test. To help raise much needed funds for research and prostate cancer treatment, Rotary in Bristol organise an annual sponsored walk, jog or run for the whole family around Bristol Downs at 12pm. To date, the 3 events have not only raised awareness about the symptoms of Prostate Cancer for men to look out for, and about the availability of simple tests to aid prostate cancer diagnosis, but have generated well over £130,000 for the Bristol Urological Institute Prostate Cancer Appeal.
