Story
Hi All,
Well I did it! It took me 11 hours, 17 mins and 18 seconds.
Spilts:
SWIM - 1hr 7 mins and 13 secs (2.4 miles),
BIKE - 6 hrs 39 secs Bike (112.2 miles)
RUN - 4hrs 2mins and 3 secs (26.2 miles)
2 toilet stops! Included in the above somewhere
Change of outfits and touch up of the makeup in transition, swim to bike 4mins and bike to run 3 mins (wishing I’d spent an extra minute remembering to put the Vaseline on my toes now!).
My placing:
148th over all out of 750 starters, 4th lady home and 2nd in my age group (18 – 20yrs! ha ha ok 30 – 34 yrs).
Refreshments:
In case you are interested I consumed: 4 high five bars, ½ a piece of Delia's sticky date and prune cake, 10 very sticky energy gels (one I managed to squirt up my nose by accident, but I think it actually absorbed quicker that way), 6 bottles of high five, 2 hydration bottles, 2 bottles of water, 4 cups of coke and 2 oranges ( I’ve come to the conclusion my stomach is made of asbestos!), oh and some lake water and pond weed of course!
Best moments: well I had a few:
1. Finishing of course,
2. seeing my very patient and understanding husband (my biggest fan!) , my best mates and the family, running club and tri club supporters cheering me on, brilliant.
3. Being filmed coming into the finish when sky sports asked me if I was on my last lap, I thought he was going to send me round again! I showed my three bands that I had collected for completing the 3 laps before getting ready to cry because I thought he was going to dispute this (mind wasn’t working very well at this point). To my surprise he went on to stick the film camera in my face and followed me on his motorcycle for my last 2 miles to the finish. At this point I decided I must be doing quite well, that I should try my best not to blub and hoped I looked OK. I quickly realised I looked and smelt bad when I ran past the perfect hooter girls at the last feed station where I slung everything they had down my neck to get me to the finish.
4. Having cold water thrown at me at the finish line by the very helpful events team trying their best to stop us all collapsing.
5. Seeing my team mates finish.
Thank you
Thank you so much to all those that came along to support I can’t tell you how much it helped and to all of those who sponsored me which gave me something to focus on when I just wanted to stop and go home to bed! I have attached my finish photo from the day, the event will be broadcast on Sky sports on the 28th Aug so look out for me and the guys from Derby tri, I think there will be some footage of us working hard.
For those of you were waiting to see if I could do it before you sponsored me I think you have the proof now! You can still donate monies via my just giving page
