Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am raising money to help with post earthquake relief in Nepal. The 2015 earthquake still to this day has left many people homeless and with their livelihoods destroyed.

Many people often say that the earthquake was over four years ago and therefore is no longer significant. However, this couldn't be more wrong, the devastating earthquake ripped apart families who lost their homes, sources of income and relatives. In fact '9,000 people were killed, many thousands more were injured, and more than 600,000 structures in Kathmandu and other nearby towns were either damaged or destroyed' (Britannica). In the succeeding years many other countries have tried to send relief money to help with aid and rebuilding the economy, however due to the corrupt nature of the Nepalese government this critical  money hasn't even come close to reaching the people who need it most.

But with the money I raise with the combined charities of Concordia and Volunteers Initiative Nepal,  it will directly reach families and communities that so desperately need it. So I hope you can now see how important this money raised will be for so many people.

With the money I raise I hope to contribute to the building of new homes for locals in Nepal itself, both financially and practically. I will be digging foundations and building structures for new homes. I know that these homes will be invaluable to improving the quality of life for people and to families left destroyed as a result of the earthquake.

During my time there I will also be visiting local schools and teaching  local children, an experience I know will be rewarding to the young children there and also for myself- pushing me out of my comfort zone.

I hope that with this money I raise I will be able to play a vital role in improving local Nepalese families lives especially children’s for the better.

Thank you very much for your donation, I am extremely grateful and I know so many Nepalese families will be also !

Below I have attached links to the two charities I am fundraising for and with be volunteering with if you would like to have a look.
