Story

Only 4 weeks to go now and Emma and I are getting very nervous!!! Upping our runs to 3/4 from this week. Up to 8 miles at the moment so fairly positive that we'll be able to do the full half! Thanks to everyone who's sponsored us and for all the kind words which are really motivating :-) xx

I'm pleased to say that Emma Coyle is now going to be running the race with me and helping me raise money for Sue Ryder care. :-)

My first 10k race done, and I have to admit, the thought of running nearly double that in just under three months terrifies me! All the kind comments and generous donations really do help keep me going so a huge thanks to those who already have :-)

Now running 5 miles...hoping to keep increasing my distance over the next few weeks despite a niggly ankle at the moment! The kind comments from everyone are really motivating...! :-) thank you x

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.

As many of you will probably know, sports/exercise has never been one of my strong points; but after watching my other half train for and run the London Marathon this year, this has given me the inspiration I needed to enter my first half marathon!! I’m about 6 weeks into my training now and running 4 miles with moderate ease but I still have a long way to go to get up to the 13 mile mark!

I’m running the Bristol Half Marathon on 30 September 2012 for Sue Ryder. Sue Ryder are an amazing charity who provide 4 million hours of care to people living with cancer and other terminal and chronic conditions every year. 6 years ago, my Nan was diagnosed with Lung and Brain cancer and when she became terminal and could no longer be cared for by the staff at Cheltenham General Hospital, she was moved to Sue Ryder where the staff there made her last few weeks that little bit more bearable. She died peacefully under the kind watch of the staff there and it’s for this reason that I have chosen to run for them.

Any donation you make is gratefully received but just as an indication into what your money can help Sue Ryder achieve:

·         £7.50 - could provide a 30 min physio session

for someone with multiple sclerosis increasing

their mobility

·         £25 - could pay for two home visits for someone who

has had a stroke supporting their independence

·         £300 (my target fundraising amount) - could cover the daily cost of running a hospice bed
