Story

See pictures of our walking  challenge. The pictures and captions tell the story.

WELL DONE TO ALL THE DREAM TEAM:

Felicity, Ian, Gary, Gordon, Darren, Amanda, David and Neil.

It tested us to the limit, the weather forced our hand  and we had to change course  but you should all be very proud.

Here's why we did it:

In support of the PSP Association and Includem, a group of friends and colleagues are planning to walk the 3 highest Scottish (and UK) peaks - Ben Macdui and Braeriach in the Cairngorms, then Ben Nevis -  in 24 hours on Saturday 13th June. All in one day!

Yes - we've decided to make the challenge even more difficult by cramming it into the one day - as long as light and determination are on our side . . .

We would love your contributions, no matter how small.

We are also seeking more walkers (part or full walk), and more supporting crew members, if you would like to join a highly memorable event.

(NB PSP is caused by the progressive death of nerve cells in the brain, leading to difficulty with balance, movement, vision, speech and swallowing. It is so called because it’s: Progressive – it gets steadily worse over time; Supranuclear – it damages parts of the brain above the pea-sized ‘nuclei’ that control eye movements; a Palsy – it causes weakness. We hope a cure can be found one day.)

My Aunty Rose sadly passed away in April this year from PSP. The PSPA were a great source of help and advice to my mother especially, who supported and cared for my aunt, alongside other close members of the family. This is in part to say a big 'thank you' for the PSPA's advice and support, and to help them along the way including funding for research.

Donations for PSPA will be through this JustGiving website.

(NB Sebastian Coe's mum also sadly passed away as a result of the disease, and he is also raising money through his foundation for research into the disease. Check: www.sebcoe.co.uk/foundation)

We are also raising money for Includem separately. Includem is a charity that supports vulnerable young people across Scotland. By providing young people with support 24/7, Includem helps prevent re-offending and enhances reintegration back into education, community and family. Please let us know if you wish to donate to this good cause.
