Event: Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles - Ironman UK Triathlon, on 1 August 2010

Story

The time has come for a new challenge and what could be more 'fun' than the Ironman Triathlon.

The Ironman consists of a 2.4 mile swim in a reservoir (that's 150 lengths of your local pool), a 112 mile bike ride which is like doing a stage of the Tour De France including 7131 feet of climbing (that’s double the height of Snowdon) followed by a Full Marathon (26.2 miles with 1569 feet of climbing) run.  All back to back in one.  The UK Ironman will take place in on Sunday 1st August.  It will start at 6am and the cut off time is 11pm that night (17 hours) finishing outside . In order to complete this event I will be training up to 12 times a week for up to 20 hours....oh the glamor!

Update 28/06/2010 - I completed the Liverpool Triathlon in 2 hours 29 minutes...now only 5 weeks to go until the big one!

I'm raising money for both the Rotary Club and Cancer Research UK. As many of you may or may not know my swimming is somewhat rubbish so this really will be a challenge....not just the usual running thing! So I have 15 weeks to train and hopefully complete the Ironman on the 1st August 2010.

It would be great it you could sponsor me...big or small...I welcome all.
