Event: Hartley Wintney to Paris Bike Ride 2010, on 2 September 2010

Story

I'm always up for a challenge and the Hartley Wintney to bike ride certainly is one for me!  I haven’t seriously been on  a bike for over 30 years, so preparing for this is going to be something of a struggle. Hopefully, this is going to give me a good opportunity get fitter than I've been for a long time and more importantly be an enjoyable experience too.  A chance of  seeing some of the lovely countryside that we will be passing through on our way and spending some (quite a lot!) of time with friends, old and new, on the way.

On top of all of this, I am looking forward to raising a serious amount of money for the St John's church building project,  as having been a member of St John’s church for around 15 years,  I am certainly aware of the need for the proposed development. The new buildings being planned will provide much needed facilities for the ongoing work of the church, as well as provide a setting for a number of activities, both for the church and the village community, that don’t currently have a home.

So please support us as much as you can, as this is a very worthy cause and all of your contributions will give me and the other cyclists the impetus we need to continue our training and get us successfully through the trip.

About the charity

St John's Church is the parish church in the Hampshire village of Hartley Wintney. In April 2012, the church commenced the building of a new £2.3m Church Centre, which, when completed in June 2013, will provide new facilities for our church and wider community. Please help us to raise the final 20%.
