OK, so why am I doing the London Triathlon. Am i crazy? Yes well slightly. I am doing this for a few reasons.
Firstly I am doing this in memory of two good friends of mine. In September 2005, my friend Neil Randall died suddenly after being rushed into hospital after complaining of stomach pains. He died from pancreatitis aged 33. The following year(2006) again in September, my other Friend Alan Dixon died from cancer of the oesophagus aged just 31. Alan had only been married for a short time to Carolyn Dixon (Grainger). Read more about Alan and Carolyn here in the Evening Gazette.
Another reason for doing the London Triathlon is of course to raise money for charity. My charity is the Butterwick Hospice.
And finally i am doing this to get fit. By doing the Triathlon I have an goal to aim for. Already I am thinking about doing this again next year, so it will be good to be able to beat my time from this year.
OK, so now you know why I am doing this, you now have a choice! Close this page and forget about what I am doing, or make a donation.
It doesn't matter how much you donate as the Tesco slogan says, Every little helps!
I keep getting asked what is actually involved in doing the London Triathlon. Well i have to do a 750m swim in Albert dock, then straight after that i have a 20k (about 12miles) bike ride and then finally a 5k run (about 3 miles).
Cheers
Neil
