Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Following on from our 2006 Thames and Wey Sponsored Row for Combat Stress. My crew of former work colleagues, friends and relatives are rowing over 110 miles, through 34 locks up and down the River Thames to raise money for the charity Combat Stress. The average age of the crew will be above the state pensionable age!

Combat Stress is the leading charity specialising in the care of British Veterans who have been profoundly traumatised by harrowing experiences during their service career. Many Veterans leave the Armed Forces with debilitating conditions such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety disorders. Their problems can remain masked for years, and they and their families may be struggling to deal with matters at home. Last year alone, Combat Stress received 1,257 new referrals - bringing the number of ex-Servicemen and women in their care to approximately 4,200. 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Regiment. This exceptionally brave unit  are at the forefront of the campaign in Afganistan as 'IEDS' are a principal weapon of the Taliban. Thus to make life safer for their fellow troops and the local population our bomb disposal people are risking their lives daily. On the 10.00 o'clock news 2.2.2010 the BBC outlined their vital role; more information can be found at : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8492838.stm. Combat Stress will devote their usual wonderful attention to any needs these exceptionally brave men, women, families and relatives require.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
