On Friday June12th 2009 my dad, David, died. He was 69 and in the prime of his life. He died from something called Wegener's Granulomatosis, a condition about which even the experts accept not enough is known.

On Sunday June 13th 2010, Tricia, Chris, Rob and I are abseiling down Guy's Hospital tower in London, in order to help raise awareness and fund research into Wegener's Granulomatosis. It will also mark the first anniversary of dad's death.

Now, this was a good  plan when it was hatched. I then saw that Guy's Hospital tower is 469 feet high and the tallest building in London you can abseil (without getting arrested!). Now I'm starting to think that a quiz or marathon would have been a lot safer an option!

Anyway, those of you who knew my dad know what an inspiration he was to us all and how his untimely death has left us all so heartbroken. For those of who didn't, please accept that without his influence I wouldn't be such a good bloke!

Please help me - and remember dad - by sponsoring me with as much as you can today. It will mean an enormous amount to me, and really will help fund research into a condition about which still so little is known.
