My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We have set up this page in honour of James (Jimmy) Brownlee who passed away suddenly on 17th April, 2012.
We are collecting to enable us to sponsor a puppy through their guide dog training and to name him after Jimmy.
Jimmy went out his way to help others and we feel this is a fitting legacy to keep his memory alive.
We thank you for your generosity and your love particularly at this sad time.
My updates 3
A massive thank you to Lucy Barrack, my friend Dawn's daughter, who ran a half marathon in sweltering heat to raise money for Jimmy's dog. She has so far raised nearly £600 and is expecting even more money to come in!!!!
Fraser, Calum and I visited the Guide Dog centre in Forfar this week. We saw where and how your money is spent to make people's lives more independent. We met the man who had given Jimmy details of voluntary work which reinforces to us this is a charity he was passionate about.
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated. We raised £1433 at the celebration of Jimmy's life and Baldragon Academy staff and pupils gave £170. I cannot believe we have raised so much money so quickly, Jimmy would have been so chuffed.
My charity
The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association
Charity Registration No. in England and Wales 209617 and Scotland SC038979
The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of blind and partially sighted people never leave home alone. Guide Dogs empowers visually impaired people to do that and relies totally on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service. We breed and train guide dogs which provide life changing mobility and there are currently 4,500 working guide dog partnerships in the UK. The full lifetime cost of a guide dog from birth to retirement is £48,500. We will not rest until blind and partially sighted people can enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else.
