It’s time for Jacques and I to do another challenge together. This time, we get off our bikes and put our running shoes on. On April 7th 2024 we are taking part in London’s Landmarks half marathon in memory of our incredible Dad, Jacques Le Miere.

Over the last 8 years Dad suffered two Strokes. He bravely fought back with strength, stubbornness and determination after each one. However, he sadly passed away on April 27th 2023 after having a third stroke, completly out of the blue. The whole family miss him dearly. 

Different Strokes is the charity that has the running places for us in London, which we will fund ourselves. They are an incredible charity in the UK who support young Stroke Survivors, like myself and highlight how hard it can be to cope with the invisible side of a Stroke. Something I deal with on a daily basis. 

However, all money raised on this page will go directly to Jersey Stroke Support (JSS). 

Jacques and I are raising money for Jersey Stroke Support as it is a new charity on the island that raises awareness of Stroke, and supports local stroke survivors, and their families.  As a stroke survivor myself, I know first hand  how the help, support and understanding of the people who are involved with this charity,  make life after a stroke a little bit brighter.  As one of the directors of this charity I am so proud of the work we are doing. All the money raised for the charity stays in the island and we have big hopes and dreams for the future! It is my dream to have a young stroke survivor network as part of JSS! 

I am sure, by now, you all know my Stroke story. It is one of very low lows and incredible highs. It’s 16 years ago today that Stroke changed my life and I still take every day as they come, I still experience difficulties and I still find things tough. But I continue to face every day with a smile and have achieved more in the last ten years than I ever could have imagined. Some days are easier than others. Since loosing Dad, I’ve wobbled, a lot, but I continue to show the same strength, determination and stubbornness that he always did and I want to make him proud. 

Running is certainly not easy for me, especially when I can’t feel the majority of the left side of my body! Running is something new for Jacques and I want to thank him for being the best challenge partner there could be! and for always saying yes when I come up with a crazy idea!
