The Nigel Goode Badminton Tournament 2019
In aid of the British Heart Foundation, Sunday 7th July 11am- 1.30pm, Garforth Squash & Leisure Centre
Our dear friend, Nigel Goode, a well-respected retired Head of Renal Research and part-time Barwick gardener, collapsed of a heart attack on 31st October 2017 whilst playing Badminton at Garforth Squash & Leisure Centre in Leeds. Despite the exceptional efforts of the first aid staff at the centre and the emergency response team, he could not be resuscitated. He was just 65 years old and looking forward to finally hanging up his gardening gloves and embracing retirement with his wife, Janet, to the full.
Last April, Nigel and Janet’s badminton friends got together to run a badminton tournament in memory of Nigel and in aid of the British Heart Foundation – we were thrilled to raise a total of £2188.15. This year we have a more modest target and just want to get together to celebrate the life of a wonderful man, through a sport that he loved and to contribute whatever funds we raise to the British Heart Foundation.
We really hope you can join us on the 7th July for a few hours of fun and laughter in honour of our great friend who, through his own remarkable scientific work, no doubt contributed to saving or improving the lives of many others throughout his career.
Event time: 11am to 1.30pm.
