Story
Hi and Welcome to our JustGiving page! Here's a little story for you for making it this far...
All Mothers will sometimes think that they have the hardest job in the world and will want to hand in their resignation.... but thanks to Ty Hafan we realise that, even on the worst days, we actually have it pretty easy!
Normally on a Friday night at midnight we would be snuggled in our warm beds, watching a film, reading a book, having a girly night, or catching up with our friends.
Becca would have completed a long school week looking after her teenage son with celebral palsy and giving her time and energy to various local charities, as well as studying for her degree with the Open University. Nikki would normally have completed a long week of working full time for the MoD and looking after her three primary school age children. Claire would have completed a long week as a horse owner, looking after two primary age children and caring for her partner. But on Friday 24th September, Claire, Becca and Nikki will be leaving the children at home in the capable (?) hands of a couple of men whilst they don their PJs and walk along the Swansea coast.
We have agreed to give up a decent night's sleep to walk 7 miles along the Swansea coast at midnight to help raise funds for the Mothers that will never get a decent night's sleep. These Mothers go the extra mile for their life-limited children, so we're going an extra 7 miles for them to help raise funds to provide the help and support they so desperately need.
We all hope that we will outlive our children but some parents know that this will never happen. Their children have conditions that mean they are not expected to live beyond their teenage years. But these Mothers don't give up, they put their child first at all times even if it means they'll never have a decent night's sleep, even if their own health will be affected. Ty Hafan is there to help though and it's only through fundraising that they are able to provide the respite that allows these Mothers to continue to give their all to their children.
If you're still not convinced, visit the Ty Hafan website and read Helen's story about her little boy Matthew.
