Heal is committed to providing shelter, support, education and healthcare for needy children and is involved in a number of projects caring for orphaned children in India.

Story

Dear family and friends,

I am taking part the Cycle India Challenge for the HEAL Charity in Jan 2014, the cycle challenge spans approx. 500km from Mumbai to Goa – the primary aim for this challenge is to raise funds to help children have a childhood as we know it.

The reason I am doing this is that during past visits to India I saw several construction sites for well- known companies and noticed the manual labour force included many Children. Having young children this was a sad image that has stayed with me as these children will never leave this trap without Our help.  Despite the recent news stories highlighting the growth in India's economy and the new wealth this is being created by the growth, Child Labour is a massive problem in India, I felt any help could make even a small difference.

Heal who have a number of projects in India which provide homes, food, education and medical care for over 1,000 orphaned and underprivileged children in Andhra Pradesh.  Some of Heal’s projects include the Heal Children's Village in Guntur, the Paradise Village, currently under construction in Thotapally, and the Poverty Trap scheme – all of these projects have one aim in mind – taking children away from the Child Labour Market, provide food and education and importantly provide an opportunity to live normal lives. Heal India are committed to expanding over the coming years with further projects with the aim of helping up to 10,000 children escape the poverty trap by 2020.

Please donate through the Just Giving website (address below).  Now the important part – WHERE Will YOUR DONATIONS GO?

Your kind donations will be going straight to HEAL - a UK registered charity in its 20th year– who is committed to providing shelter, support, education and healthcare for needy children in India. As a small charity, Heal are committed to ensuring that your donations are not wasted on administrative costs. Heal achieve this because as they have no administrative office and no paid administrative staff – the real work is undertaken by the trustee and staff of Heal India.

During the Cycle Challenge we will be visiting the Heal Paradise Village, Heal Children’s Village where we will be meeting and spending time with the children, overseeing the facilities and seeing how our support has helped children. (I will be uploading pictures and updates through my blog)!

I would also like to point out that I am funding the cost of this trip myself. So all your kind donations will directly help children escape the poverty trap and more importantly have a chance for normal lives.

Please donate directly through the following website http://www.justgiving.com/Nilesh-Mistry
