Story

In the lead up to his 10th birthday Noah will be doing a series of actions to help raise awareness and support for children of sanctuary seeking background. He hopes many of his friends and family will join him along on the journey. Here is the plan:

1. A vow of silence: Noah will stay silent for a whole day to raise awareness of the fact refugee children and their families are not given a voice on matters that affect them

2. A walk/run: to signify the treacherous journeys refugee families take on foot to reach safety

3. A swim in the cold ocean: to signify the dangerous channel crossings children and their families are forced to take due to lack of safe routes

4. Learning a new language: Noah will learn 50 words in a new language to mark the difficult task children of sanctuary seeking background face when they first arrive in the UK

5. Living on £5.70 for 2 days: Children Noah's age have to live on £5.70 a day for all their needs (other than housing)

6. A day off school: to raise awareness about the interruption to schooling suffered by many children of sanctuary seeking background

7. A concert at a local hotel where children of sanctuary seeking background are hosted: Noah and his friends will spend the afternoon playing piano, and other instruments for their refugee peers

8. Playdate: one of the easiest way to make children of sanctuary seeking background welcome is to simply spend some time playing and making friends

9. Writing to his MP (and encourage others to do so too): to call for a kinder treatment of refugee children and their families

10. Apply to break a Guinness World Record for the most messages of solidarity (in the form of decorated love hearts) by children for children
