Over the past few years cancer has had a huge impact on our lives affecting family members and friends. It has taken the lives of both of our grandfathers one at the age of 63 and one at the age of 81. Cancer has also affected the life of my fathers Auntie, who has had breast cancer, and fortunately was able to fight it off. She is fit and healthy to this day. Our great grandfather died of Pancreatic Cancer. Our uncle has recently has had Sarcoma (cancer) in his foot which is extremely rare as at the time there was only fifty known cases of the cancer in the world. He has undergone endless amounts of operations and had months off work; with the out come being successful he is healthy today. The most recent case  is our father (52) who has recently been diagnosed with Melanoma (skin cancer). Melanoma is the most deadly form of skin cancer, in the past he has had skin cancer  twice and managed to fight it off but it has come back again after him getting the all clear 4 years ago. We all have our fingers cross for him this time and staying positive that he can defeat it for the third time. Cancer has also affected our friends and their families taking away or affecting their close ones. We both decided to take part in the 2 mile Great North Swim not only for the personal reward but to also take it as an opportunity to raise as much money and awareness as possible for Cancer Research UK. We NEED your help to make this happen!! Any donations will be massively appreciated. We are aiming to raise at least £1000 and can't do it alone!
