Story
Hello, my name is Olivia and I am Deputy Head Girl at Alfriston School.
Alfriston is a Special Needs Secondary school for girls and has recently become a Sport's College. It has a project running called 'Project Splash' which is working towards a fabulous new swimming pool and more sports facilities.
With the right facilities, sport can be accessible to everyone. We already have some sporting champions at Alfriston!
The idea for my fundraising began when my mum decided that she should really make more effort to do sport after watching the fantastic sport's days at Alfriston and seeing how much effort everyone put in, regardless of ability. Alfriston girls take part in sporting activities at a local, regional and national level. Pupils are spurred on by Mrs Knibb's fabulous enthusiasm!
I already love swimming so Mum asked if I'd be interested in a triathlon as she had read that beginners could have a go with the right training. My sister got involved aswell to be supportive and she likes running. I am 15 and Jess is 14. (Mum is 43 and likes reading!) My dad and my brothers are supportive too and will cheer us on and sponsor us.
So, my sister Jess, my mum and I have decided to do our first triathlon. This involves a 200 meter open lake swim, a 20km bike ride followed by a 2.5km run. It's called a 'Supersprint Triathlon' and is taking place on May 9th in the Cotswolds. We are all having to train hard in all three sports but we know it will be worth it.
Please give generously, Alfriston is a wonderful place where everyone is encouraged to achieve their potential and it will be made even better with a wonderful new pool.
Love from Olivia (and team!)
