Story
We are raising funds to build a new UK Police Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire to commemorate police officers who have been killed in the line of duty. Since 1749 and the creation of the Bow Street Runners, as the world’s first recognised Police service, over 4,000 men and women have given their lives to serve and protect our communities in the United Kingdom.
The physical memorial at the Arboretum will be completed by a digital memorial that focuses on the fallen with photographs, citations and enhanced tributes. An education programme for schools and colleges will be created that tells the story of policing and its role in our society, and a Living Memorial fund will be established that aims to support the families of those who have made that ultimate sacrifice. Further details about the memorial can be found at www.ukpolicememorial.org
