Story

Hi All

In May 2011 I will be doing a bike ride from London to Paris. All money raised will be going to Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in loving memory of Sukhbinder Kaur Bains. My mother suffered from MND and past away on 14th December 2008.

Motor Neurone Disease is the name given to a group of related diseases affecting the motor neurones (nerve cells) in the brain and spinal cord. As the motor neurones gradually die, the muscles stop working.
In the most common form of the condition muscle weakness starts in hands and arms or feet and legs. In the hands it is noticed as problems with grip, difficulty in opening bottles and dropping things. In the legs it is tiredness, tripping up or difficulty in climbing stairs.
MND does not affect touch, taste, sight, smell or hearing. In the vast majority of cases the intellect remains unaffected. Its cause remains unknown and there is at the moment, no cure.
Put simply people with MND can still think and feel, but their muscles refuse to work.
Life expectancy for most people with MND is just two to five years, and around half will die within 14 months of diagnosis.

This is an important cause so please donate however much or little you can. Every donation will be gratefully received and can help bring us one step closer to finding a cure.

Many Thanks
