Story
Well I did it...
After four days of trekking up the Himalayas we reached our pre summit camp at the Nepalese Monastery of Naur at 3,350 metres. The next day we rose at 3am to trudge through the dark up to the top of Pikey Peak at 4065 metres. Due to the early start and altitude I was feeling weak and sick but, thanks to your contributions I managed to find the strength to struggle to the top of the mountain just in time to see the sun rise over the Himalayas and Mount Everest - an incredibly beautiful and moving sight. After pausing for photos and a quick cuppa we then made our way back down for breakfast in Naur, before another 5 hour trek to our next camp at Buldonda.
Big thanks to all of you who sponsored me - the fear of having to go round and give you all your money back drove me on.

On November 19th I'm going to Nepal for what I thought was a lovely, stimulating, 8 day trek. After booking I read further and realised that I've signed up for a hefty adventure involving camping, sub zero temperatures, climbing a 4000m peak and no alcohol.
So in the great British tradition of Challenges for Charity I'm taking this opportunity to raise money for Cancer Research UK. As many of you know, cancer has visited members of my family as well as my good self and it seems fitting to try and play a part in conquering this dread disease as well as knocking off a few peaks in Nepal.
Please root through your pockets and have a good search in the sofa for any money that you can donate as it's a very good cause indeed, and something for which I will be eternally grateful.
All the best
Patrick
