Story
If you've found you're way here then I've been either been hassling you non-stop, or you've been kind enough to come off of your own back, either way - thank you!
In the June half term (May 29th-June 5th) I will be cycling the length of the with a group of like-minded mad-men! We aim to cover the 900 or so miles in 7 days, giving us a daily average of just under 130 miles. For those of you who don't quite comprehend what that means, we'll be spending upto 10 hours a day stuck to our bike saddles! The stats themselves are pretty overwhelming, and in the first day alone we have near-on 4000m of climbing - that's half way up Everest!
Our rough route will look something like this, so for those interested, please come and say hello:
Day 1 (Lands End – Tiverton) 130
Day 2 (Tiverton – Upton) 128
Day 3 ( – ) 131
Day 4 ( – Ecclefechan) 135
Day 5 (Ecclefechan – ) 124
Day 6 ( – ) 115
Day 7 ( – John O’Groats) 120
It is going to be an extremely humbling experience, and what with only 8 weeks to go when I write this, I can truly say I'm nervous!
I've chosen to support African Revival, a based charity working in Eastern & Southern Africa. Their aim is simple - to transform the lives of rural people by giving them the opportunity to lift themselves out of poverty. The type of projects they work on include: improving primary education and supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses. Please take the time to look at their website www.africanrevival.org - it really is amazing.
Now for the boring bit..........Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks everyone, and I look forward to sharing the stories of shaved legs and saddle sores when we've completed it.
Paul
p.s. Some of you have enquired about my 'other little challenge' in October. I hadn't intended to raise any sponsorship for my Ironman attempt, but for those kind enough to have enquired, I will happily accept your hard earned cash on behalf of African Revival. This page will be adequate for both events.
