At the beginning of October typhoon Ketsana hit the Philippines and also affected the wider region including Vietnam. An earthquake registering 7.6 on the Richter scale struck western Sumatra in Indonesia on Wednesday 30th of September, followed by a another aftershock of 6.6 the next day. In total more than 1000 people lost their lives and more than four million have been affected.

I was horrified to see on the international news of the devastation, particularly of the huge mudslides in which whole villages where engulfed and the people buried alive.
