Kielder boasts the largest man-made forest in Britain and the largest man-made reservoir in Europe. Back in 1981 I was a student and worked the summer as a labourer building Kielder dam and in the same year I also ran the 1^st Great North Run. So at the tender age of 51 I have decided to take up the challenge again and run the 1^st Kielder marathon around the world’s most beautiful course. I am looking to raise funds for the Calvert Trust based near the lake. This is a really special charity offering amazing outdoor adventures for disabled people of all ages. The staff are warm, friendly and supportive treating people with respect and dignity and offering a fantastic and memorable experience. I will endure the pain and will be grateful if you can support my efforts with a donation no matter how small.
