Story
Ladies and gentlemen,
You will be well aware that a truely great man and teacher, John Sinclair, sadly passed away in July.
In memory of such a well respected man I am organising a charity football match on behalf of Lesley Sinclair, John's widow, to raise money for St Cuthbert's Hospice which helped John through his illness and provided respite care for John and Leslie.
Many of you will know what John was all about and will have experienced John first hand in your years at Durham Johnston. He was a gentlemen with admirable morals and values and was a teacher who commanded respect from all. Others will have had the pleasure of being friends with John outside of school and will know the joy he brought to those around him with his cracking sense of humour.
As well as teaching geography and history, he taught P.E. with great passion. Football was his Achilles Heel and he spent so much of his time in and out of school with both male and female football teams.
Therefore a charity match seems most fitting to pay our respects, raise money and enjoy ourselves along the way which is what John would wish for.
Please give generously and come along to the match which is provisionally planned for the 13th September, 6pm at Durham Johnston School. A small donation to spectate will be collected on arrival.
Thank you so much.
