Story

Dear All,

Thank you for your time.

I have yet again set a challenge, one which will push me to my limits (No don’t worry you’re safe it’s not the XFactor this time!!)

I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro Summit in February to raise funds for the NSPCC ChildLine charity. It is a very important cause and one I feel very passionate about, but of course we need money to make sure that no child's voice ever goes unheard.

At 5,895m, is one of the largest volcanoes ever to break through the Earth's crust. Our challenge is to reach the summit! The trek will commence on the 21st February in the rainforests of Lemosho Glades and head upwards over eight days of climbing .On the final night before the summit climb we need to rise at around midnight to commence the final trek in the moonlight up the scree slopes to Stella Point. Our aim is to reach this point by dawn and continue around the rim to the highest point, . This is likely to be an extremely tough day involving 1,295m of ascent and 2,145m of descent and around 15 hours of climbing and walking!

The reason I am choosing to do this is because so many children and young people continue to be at risk of varying forms of abuse in the and the ChildLine service (provided by the NSPCC) is a free, confidential, 24hr service that's there to help deal with these problems. ChildLine counsels children experiencing horrific abuse which can often be at the hands of those closest to them. ChildLine need our help because they're currently only able to answer 67% (or just two thirds) of the 2 million calls received every year from children and young people in distress.

They still urgently need to recruit more of the volunteer counselors who provide the advice, help and support that children and young people depend upon as without volunteers, ChildLine would not exist at all. It costs £42 to have a one-to-one counseling session online and over the phone. It costs the NSPCC £1,600 to train a volunteer to provide counseling to each child in need of ChildLine's help. The trip will be funded by myself so therefore all donations will go directly to NSPCC Childline.

Please help me to reach my target of £5,000 by sponsoring what you can, all donations are greatly appreciated and will definitely go to a good cause.

Thank you very much for your kind generosity.

Warm Regards

ChildLine is the UK's free and confidential, 24 hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise, support and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. Children call ChildLine about a wide range of problems, but the most common problems are abuse (both sexual and physical), bullying, serious family tensions, worries about friends' welfare and teenage pregnancy. Children and young people can call ChildLine about anything – no problem is too big or too small. ChildLine is a service provided by the NSPCC
