Story

Celebrity Golf Day The Richmond Golf Club            Friday 27th September, 2019.                                      Partnership with The Stage Golfing Society

Born Too Soon is very proud to have been chosen by The Stage Golfing Society for the 35th consecutive year as their chosen charity.

Every single day a baby is born prematurely or unwell.  At Kingston Hospital we care for the tiniest and sickest babies.  Imagine having a baby born so early and tiny that they weigh as little as One Pound (450 Grams) and struggling to breath.  It is very difficult to replicate nature and a Ventilator to help our precious babies whether premature or unwell costs £18,000 and incubators cost from £12,000 to £35,000.  The associated equipment to fund One intensive care cot space costs up to £50,000,which includes Infusion pumps which enable both drugs and life saving fluids to be administered slowly and safely. Funding another intensive care Cot means that babies can be cared for closer to home and not have to be transferred all over the country.

We care for up to 18 tiny and precious babies at any one time.  Last year we cared for up to 500 babies.  Some of our babies spend a couple of hours, days, weeks or months on our Neonatal Unit.  Sadly some of our babies never get to go home, or die shortly afterwards.  We ensure that families are involved in the care of their babies, and have precious memories, which have to last them a lifetime.  To this end we were involved with setting up the dedicated Bereavement Daisy Room at Kingston Hospital.

Any help or support would be greatly appreciated.   If we get it right at the start, the effects can last a lifetime.  The children of today are our future tomorrow. Thank you.
