HYDE BARK 2013 Sponsored dog walk · 9 June 2013

Since 1886, Mayhew has been at the heart of the communities in which we work providing a lifeline to thousands of dogs and cats in need. Our focus has always been on keeping pets and owners together through community-based welfare, veterinary, rescue and rehoming services in the UK and overseas.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Below is my personal story for why I support this charity:

For those who know we well, know that my animals mean the world to me. Approximately 2 years ago I came home from work to find one of  my very healthy Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Sukie, was unable to walk. Upon visiting the Vets we were informed that she had somehow severed her spinal cord and was paralysed. To this day we do not know how this had happened. Due to her breed we had to make the hard decision of putting her to sleep. It was so very sudden and it also meant that my other Staffie, Sasha, who Sukie had raised from a Puppy, was now left without a friend.

Some may find it hard to believe but not only were we in mourning, so was Sasha. We knew that after the right amount of time we would need to find her a new friend.

After many miles and meet and greets at different animal shelters, Sasha finally chose her new friend. She chose Pippin Pictured in Main photo) from The Mayhew Animal Home.  He was a Staffie cross (although we now think he may have Springbok or Kangaroo in him due to his amazing jumping skills!)

He has been an amazing addition to our family and Sasha and him have grown very close and it has been a joy to see Sasha happy again.

Our experience with The Mayhew was truly moving due to the work they do not only here in the UK but abroad as well. They are quite different to other animal Shelter's, just check out there website to see how they work with animals as well as the community.

Here is an example of how they help both animals and people:

All the money raised will go directly to helping them continue this amazing work.
