Last Sunday I ran the High Wycombe half marathon. Whilst I was pounding the streets it was really great to know that as a result one or more underprivelidged children could have the opportunity - literally for many of a lifetime- to have a week's holiday under excellent supervision at one of the centres run by Chicks  (County Holidays for Inner City Kids). Chicks takes children that are referred through childern's charities and social workers, and gives them not just a great holiday but a level of adult contact (2 children per adult leader) that many of them, coming from disfunctional family situations, have never experienced before. The short term outcome in terms of behavoural change and growth in self-esteem is often dramatic. The longer term outcome is the potential to avoid the child moving into teenage years with addiction, gang violence, or depressive illness.  Thank you for considering sponsoring me on their behalf.
