10 May 2023 - UPDATE: Due to Covid my trip around Zimbabwe and Zambia in my 1929 Morris Minor Tourer was postponed.  Apart from raising funds the objective was to visit all past 10 owners of the Morris then taking back to the spot outside Kitwe Zambia where I rescued the car in 1970 and the restored it to Concours condition. On 23 March the BTA (Back to Africa) Team of four left Cape Town to take the Morris to Mutare Zimbabwe.   On 2 April the Morris departed Mutare, then to Bulawayo, Harare, Kariba Zambia, Lusaka to Kitwe where we placed the Morris in the bush at Itimpi having driven 1,506 miles. We returned via Victoria Falls driving the car across the famous bridge then  made our way back to Cape Town on 10 May after 7 weeks.  The Morris has now arrived back in London after an absence of 4 years.  I am now writing a book of this amazing experience. In fact this story started in January 2020 when I launched my JustGiving campaign to support Cecily's Fund.  I was all set to start my journey across Zimbabwe and Zambia and I had already raised £1107.40 and then Covid-19 arrived and my project was put on hold. 

I want to say a huge thank you to everybody who supported me during 2020 and my aim is now to raise £9000 or more to meet my original £10,000 target.   

Cecily's Fund is a small but highly effective charity that has been working in Zambia since 1998 and will be celebrating its 25th anniversary this year having invested over £7 million to support the most vulnerable children living in very poor communities on the outskirts of Lusaka and in the Copperbelt, primarily Kitwe and Chingola.  The current mayor of Kitwe was once a vulnerable child dependent on the support of Cecily's Fund to go to school.
